On the 24th of June at around 23:30 IST (irish summer time) while in the kubuntu desktop on a machine apt-get update froze when it got to backports.

This resulted in me editing the sources.list file and hashed out backports.

Then apt-get update then worked (well you expected that), then apt-get upgrade downloaded some 63meg java package.

I did not get the version number :-(

On the 25th at around 10:15am IST I went into the ubuntu desktop and was informed by that nice little red icon (the name escapes me) that syanptic wants to update something, upon clicking on it it said java again :-/ maybe we have two bumps in the same package in two days.
If not then an error occured.

It's probably to do with not doing a apt-get update after the edit of your sources/lsit
