install-info not called after installing info files

Bug Description

The command install-info is not called after installing the info files. This means that the dir file (displayed by M-x info) does not include an entry for vm. This essentially renders installing the info files useless.

Sorry for the hiatus. Two points:

- The configure test may be shortened by using AC_CHECK_PROGS instead of multiple calls to AC_CHECK_PROG.
- In the case of split info files, install-info should only be called for the first one. For example, if there are vm.info, vm.info-1, and vm.info-2, then only vm.info should be considered as target.
