Bug Description

I am only posting that because similar bugs already reported are about other laptop manufacturers, and because in dapper it DID worked very well (not on edgy nor feisty)...

description below

I did the official upgrade (via update manager) from kubuntu 6.06 to 6.10, and then to 7.04... (all AMD64)

the problem begun with the update to 6.10 and continues in 7.04,
my notebook is a gateway mx6447

I cannot more set up monitor brightness... in dapper, I did it by pressing Fn and up/down arrow.... now it does work only when booting up, but not inside kubuntu. volume setting with Fn and PgUp/PgDn works perfectly. that is important for me because I work in a place with very variable external light. In dapper it worked perfectly, in edgy it simply stopped working... in feisty it does causes some "disturbance" in the display area where in dapper it showed the bright regulation, but bright does not change, and that "disturbed" display area (a square in extreme up left corner) has no readable things, only small coloured squares that appear while I press the briht setting keys...
under K>System Configuration> Display (sorry, it is in Portuguese, maybe names would vary...), hardware is configured as generical plug and play. there are SEVERAL Gateway monitors, I do not know if I could check one, but in that case which one?
in all other aspects display works perfectly.

YES it is.....

apart of that, after I upgraded to Gutsy, my machine lasts about 10
minutes to initiate Kubuntu because of the video card support.... I do
not know even if 3d works (didnt worked in previous versions)...

I would be glad to have some kind of solution, please tell me wich
diagnostics to do and wich information to send.....

wireless card is also not recognized

dpkg -l | grep kde-guidance
ii kde-guidance 0.8.0svn20070928-0ubuntu7 collection of KDE system administration tools for GNU/Li
ii kde-guidance-powermanager 0.8.0svn20070928-0ubuntu7 HAL based power manager applet

thanks
