Note that adding unity-common as a dependency isn't a solution as unity-common depends on gnome-compiz, which pulls in dozens of things that you don't actually need when wanting to use libunity-core.
A possible solution would be to separate out a unity-schemas package, or maybe clean up unity-common to not depend on compiz-gnome.
