Bug Description

I have a sony vaio laptop, 1Ghz amd, 256 MB RAM. When trying to boot the live cd
the cd thrashes, but no boot, then the xp boot takes over.
I have Knoppix 3.4 running as a live cd fine on this machine.
I will tested this issue on an old desktop machine, PII 350Mhz, 128 MB RAM ,and
Ubuntu does not boot, although it gets to the end of the initial progress bar,
before rebooting the machine and starting again.
I have knoppix 3.4 live cd running fine on this machine also.
I have tested all of the 15 pre-pressed cds I was sent.
I will test it on my main desktop next.

it would be very helpfull, if you test another liveCD which uses
grub as bootloader.

Hi,
I have now tested gnoppix 0.8.1 and kanotix bug hunter X 2004 fix1 and they both
boot fine.
I have also booted Insert live cd fine.
Also, XP on the laptop cannot read the cd at all. (you mention that there are
open source apps for windows on the cd)

Hi, I have now tested the live cd on the win98 / RH9 dual boot desktop, and it
seems to run fine. (I am typing this from firefox under ubuntu)
this same cd still does not work on the XP laptop, nor the old PII machine.
However, I have downloaded and burned an ubuntu live cd iso and that works fine
on the XP laptop and all the others.
I would suggest that the live cds as distributed have not been burned correctly
or have an issue with the iso.
