yeah, this cool app should be in your repos, it depends only on sun jre 1.5 or 1.6, and they are in the repos

Please note that there's already a "dist-deb" target in jEdit's build.xml file:
"ant dist-deb" already creates a .deb package for the given source.
I'm not sure if this is worth anything, but wanted to let you know.
