Bug Description

SRU Justification
=================

[Impact]
The user will not be able to use a resolution that's shown in the drop-down box in gnome-control-center in clone mode.

[Test Case]
If you are hit by this bug, you will not be able to select the preferred mode if it is not a common resolution of the laptop screen and external monitor.

With the fix, the incorrect resolution will not be shown.

[Regression Potential]
The patch has been accepted by upstream, how it works is to skip adding the preferred mode in mirror mode, so should not have regression.

-----------------------------------------------------

Connect HDMI or D-sub to external monitor, and it works fine when switching to
mirror mode in 1024x768, but does not work for mirror mode in 1366x768. Please
see the attached screenshot.

output of xrandr -q:

is that an important fix for you? 12.04.1 desktop freeze was last week and I'm wondering if you wanted to try to get sneaked it in there or if having an update after the .1 release (which will be in 12.04.2 then) would be ok?

Clint Byrum (clint-fewbar) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Anthony, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-control-center into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
