Bug Description

I launch Mixxx, and load a long track, then hit the play button (using "D"), which lights up, but nothing else happens - no sound, no movement. I can toggle the button on and off with the mouse or keyboard, but no playback at all. (It even says the deck is playing when I try to quit.) Any subsequent tracks won't play in that deck either, but deck 2 works fine.

Waiting for the track to load completely SEEMS to prevent the issue. But frustratingly, I haven't been able to recreate the issue consistently, only when I'm not trying. Anyone else experienced this?

(MacOSX 10.6.8, Mixxx 10.1.0)

Just came across this bug as described by OP while testing https://code.launchpad.net/~mixxxdevelopers/mixxx/sample-grid , which uses the latest code from lp:mixxx/1.11.

In my case this affects the right or left deck on random occasion. It seems to me that the occurrence of the bugs depends on whether the current session had a sample deck playing or not.

Just tested the latest mixxx-1.11.0-beta2-pre-bzr3450-x64.exe in a fresh Win 7 64 bit VM and on first Startup i had the same issue. On track load it hangs, once the waveform is generated it is frozen at the very beginning and if i hit the play button lit up - no sound. Interestingly i can change the play position within the waveform overview and can scratch audibly on the main waveform

In RateControl, we did not initialize m_bVinylControlEnabled or m_bVinylControlScratching. As a result these flags were set to the value of the underlying memory which somewhat randomly flipped the flags and caused decks/samplers to be "stuck" in vinyl control mode which pegged their rate to 0. That's why you could scratch them but they wouldn't move forward when play was enabled. Fixed in lp:mixxx/1.11 r3458.
