cursor blinks even when terminal doesn't have focus

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

This seems to be a recent regression in Lucid: the cursor always blinks in all terminals even when they don't have focus, which is very annoying and I think against the GNOME UI guidelines.

As a workaround (see bug 188732) one can set a gconf key to turn off blinking.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to report this bug and for helping to make Ubuntu better. However, i cannot reproduce this bug with the latest Lucid updates so i'm gonna mark it as invalid. Please feel free to change its status again if you think so.

Cheers
Davide

Yes, it does seem to be gone in later lucid updates.

This is a valid bug. I have upgraded lucid to the latest updates.

In a screen with 10 gnome-terminal windows, a random half of them have a blinking cursor. Some windows behave normal, which is no focus no blinking. When I open a new gnome-terminal, the cursor in that window blinks only when it has focus. But after a while, without apparent reason, some cursors blink permanently, even in windows I never typed anything.

I have no idea what triggers the bug, it seems totally random.

I have seen this again too. I just turned off cursor blinking globally :-/
